apple turnovers

In a large bowl, combine together the ingredients for the dough and mix until a smooth dough forms. Refrigerate for ca. 60 minutes.

For the filling, peel the apples and slice into small cubes. Steam the apple pieces, raisins, cinnamon and brown cane sugar. Allow to cool.

Preheat the oven to 175°C. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured surface, roll out the dough and slice into ca. 8cm large squares. Place the filling onto the squares, and fold into a triangles (make sure the apple turnovers are not too full). Press the edges down firmly to seal. Place the apple turnovers on the prepared baking sheets, leaving a small gap between each one. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the turnovers have a light colour. Remove the turnovers from the oven, and allow to cool on a wire rack.
