Preheat the oven (electric 200°C / convection 175°C). Grease a springform (26cm Ø) and dust it with flour.
Place the flour, sugar, salt and egg yolk in a bowl. Add the butter (cut into pieces) and using the dough hooks of an electric mixer, knead the ingredients together. Now using your hands continue to knead the dough and work it until it resembles crumbles.
Place 2/3 of the dough into the prepared springform, press it flat and create a small edge. Refrigerate the remaining streusel until needed. Now bake the base for 10 minutes, before removing it from the oven and lowering the oven temperature to 180°C.
Cream together the marzipan, butter and powdered sugar. Gradually add the eggs and egg white. Stir in the flour and baking powder.
Cut the apples into chunks and fold into the batter.
Pour the batter into the springform and spread evenly. Sprinkle the remaining streusel dough on top and bake the cake at for ca. 45 minutes .
